Why Panama is the Smartest
Retirement Decision
World-Class Healthcare
Panama City is home to Pacífica Salud — the first and only Johns Hopkins Medicine International affiliated hospital in Latin America. JCI accredited. Medicare Advantage accepted.
Zero Tax on Foreign Income
Panama operates on a territorial tax system. Your Social Security, pension, and investment income from foreign sources are 100% exempt from Panamanian taxes. Every dollar stays yours.
Legally Mandated Discounts
By Panamanian law, every business must honor Pensionado card discounts — 50% off hotels, 25% off restaurants, 20% off doctor visits, 25% off utilities, and much more. For life.
Everything you need
to Know
[01]
Does my U.S. Social Security qualify?
Yes. Social Security is one of the most widely accepted income sources for the Panama Pensionado Visa. Any guaranteed lifetime pension of at least $1,000/month qualifies — including Social Security, private pensions, military retirement, and annuities.
[02]
Do I have to live in Panama full-time?
No. The Pensionado Visa only requires that you spend at least one day in Panama per calendar year. You can maintain your life in the U.S. while enjoying permanent residency in Panama.
[03]
How long does the process take?
Between 3 and 6 months from initial submission to approval. Once approved, your permanent residency is immediate — no temporary phase required. Your Pensionado card and all discounts activate right away.
[04]
Can I bring my spouse?
Yes. Your spouse and dependent children can be included in your application. You'll need an additional $250/month in pension income for each dependent you include.
